Organize Notes

How to Create Collections

Group notes into collections without over-filing everything.

Introduction

Collections are lightweight groups — closer to playlists than strict directories. Use them for themes you revisit, not for every fleeting thought.

Create fewer, denser collections

A good collection already has gravity: several notes clearly belong together. Empty collections become guilt shelves.

Examples: “Exam — Algorithms,” “Essay sources,” “Product research — onboarding.”

Collections vs tags

Collections are browsable groups from the Collections page. Tags help filter inside Notes. Many notes use both: a Research collection plus tags for methods or topics.

Create and use a collection

  1. Open Collections in the sidebar.
  2. Create a collection with a clear name.
  3. Open Notes and filter by that collection, or attach notes while organizing.
  4. Return to Collections later to jump back into the group.

Group what already belongs together

Start one collection for an active project — not twelve empty ones.

FAQ

Can a note live in multiple collections?

Yes. Notes can reference multiple collection IDs so cross-cutting themes stay flexible.

What happens if I delete a collection?

The collection goes away; notes remain in your library unless you trash them separately.

Do collections sync to the cloud?

Collections are stored locally with your notes in the browser database.
